    Join analyst Joe Marmerstein in the Ultiworld Film Room for this two-part series teaching advanced tips for improving your hammer throws in windy conditions. Part One focuses on throwing mechanics – how to adjust your release angle, aim, and power depending on what direction the wind is blowing.  Part Two offers tips for increasing the effectiveness of your hammers in-game including when to use the hammer, how to optimize your receivers’ chances of catching the throw, and knowing when to use the threat of the hammer to open up another option.

  22. European Ultimate Federation Cancels EUCRs, Gives EUCF Decision Timeline

    The European Ultimate Federation has announced that they will cancel the summer EUCR tournaments that normally qualify teams for the EUCF.

    Per a decision structure created in late 2020, the EUF gave themselves a deadline of March 1st to greenlight the regional tournaments if international travel seemed feasible by July. As COVID cases in Europe remain high and many European countries still have travel restrictions in place, the EUF determined it was not possible to proceed with EUCRs. (more…)

  24. Con10enT All-Black Tour Names 10 Core Players

    Over the last few weeks, Disc Diversity shared audio clips and baby pictures of the 10 person core of the inaugural Con10enT All-Black Tour as a challenge for fans to guess which players were going to be part of the team.

    The wait is no more because captain pairings and the All-Black Core were officially announced on Valentine’s Day. (more…)

  25. European Ultimate Federation To Decide On Youth Tournaments In April

    The European Ultimate Federation has announced that their two major European youth tournaments are still in consideration for 2021. The EYUC U20 is planned to take place in Malmö, Sweden on July 17-24 and the EYUC U17 tournament is scheduled for August 7-14 in Hollabrunn, Austria. The EUF will make a statement on April 1 to declare whether they will continue planning the events or if they will be canceled or postponed.

    Each EUF nation is allowed to send a team in the mixed, open, and women’s divisions in both age categories. However, in the mixed U20 category, the EUF is also allowing national federations from outside the EUF to participate. (more…)

  26. USA Ultimate Postpones Beach Championships, Nears Update on Return to Play Guidelines

    USA Ultimate has announced the postponement of the 2021 Beach Championships, originally scheduled for May.

    The decision was reached after “continued dialogue with [USAU’s] medical advisory committee, beach working group and local event organizers,” as well as feedback from participating players and teams. While the event has yet to be rescheduled, the organization is now exploring “a possible fall date” while also weighing potential calendar conflicts with both the postponed college series and club play typically held into the fall.     Join analyst Joe Marmerstein in the Ultiworld Film Room in this series teaching and discussing common pull plays in ultimate, spanning a variety of offensive systems. The ninth video in this series focuses on a simple, yet powerful offense, isolation cuts from a side stack. Marmerstein covers how to run the play, what makes it effective, how to make adjustments in-game based on the conditions or defense, and how to play effective defense against this play.

  28. Australia Drops from WUGC

    Australia has withdrawn all three of its teams from the 2021 World Ultimate and Guts Championships, citing health and safety concerns. Australia becomes the first country that had teams in the semifinals of WUGC 2016 — the mixed team lost to the USA in the final, the men’s team fell to Japan — to drop from the event. (more…)
